Friends of the Belpre Library
Who Are the Friends?
The Friends of the Library (FOL) is a public non-profit organization that welcomes everyone who is interested in supporting the Belpre Library.
What Is the Friends Mission?
The group's mission is
"to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; to assist the library Board and staff in developing and sponsoring programs of educational, cultural, or recreational value for Friends and the community at large; and to develop fund-raising projects for the library..."
How Do the Friends Help?
Selling canvas book bags and a perpetual book sale.
How Is the Money Used?
Although independent of the library system, the Friends communicate with library staff to pinpoint needs - needs that are expected to grow as library funding continues to be pinched.
The Belpre Friends have supported the Belpre Branch by
- Buying incentives for Summer Reading and ongoing reading challenge.
- Buying an outdoor sign board to promote library activities.
- Assisting with the building of an outside garden.
- Purchasing a laminator.
- Purchasing a die-cut machine.
- Supporting other programming as needed.
